Ask your teacher what citation style is preferred. If the teacher does not have a preference, then we suggest MLA, which our English classes use. Here's our web page on how to cite: http://libguides.mchenry.edu/content.php?pid=293302&sid=3317449. The Purdue OWL site on that page is particularly helpful.
Citation formats are usually chosen based on subject matter. Classes in the Humanities (like Music, English, Art, etc) use MLA citation formats. Classes in the Sciences use APA.
If you need help citing specific sources, bring them to the library reference desk and we can help (or use our Ask a Librarian service).
